Antidote 9 v4: a New, Free Update for French and English

September 16, 2016 Press releases

Druide informatique announces the release of Antidote 9 v4, the third free update for the current edition of its renowned writing assistance software suite. Version 4 brings an enhanced set of dictionaries with expanded and refreshed content, including hundreds of new words in both English and French. The corrector’s accuracy has been improved, particularly in how it distinguishes between English and French text. What’s more, Antidote 9 v4 integrates with new software and platforms.

Consisting of an advanced corrector, multiple dictionaries and language guides, Antidote integrates directly with the major word processing and email programs in Windows, Mac and Linux. Its ninth edition was released last November and included a major new feature: an optional module offering all Antidote’s valuable resources in English, with the interface switching seamlessly from one language to the other.

In French, Antidote 9 v4 boosts its dictionaries with 600 new words, like bibimbap, juricomptable and supraluminique. All the dictionaries have been updated, with 1400 new notes under the Difficulty section. In English, 7000 new words have been added, including beachside, botnet and crowdsourcing, bringing the total number of words to more than 100,000. Additionally, v4 includes 15,000 new synonyms in English, new etymology notes and new links to guide articles from the definitions.

The corrector has been equipped with hundreds of enhancements, particularly in its ability to automatically identify sections of English text within a French passage. It can now even analyze and correct a single sentence made up of both English and French text. A new menu can limit text correction to a single language, with an equivalent setting also available for the Anti-Oops! email verification module.

Antidote 9 v4 provides official support for this summer’s Windows 10 Anniversary Update, as well as initial adaptations for the upcoming macOS Sierra. Antidote remains the only French writing assistance suite in Linux, and v4 brings official support for the Fedora 24 distribution. Display on high-resolution screens in Windows and Linux has also been greatly improved.

Druide recommends that Antidote 9 users update to v4 for free via a download, which Antidote will automatically offer. Users of previous editions can get the upgrade at a reduced price from www.antidote.info.
