The 26th Arts Excellence awards were held on April 3 at La Tuque. This event aims to showcase the work of artists from Mauricie. Johanne Pothier won the award for the Création en littérature category with her novel Un 10 décembre à Munich. This award given by Librairie Poirier and the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste de la Mauricie includes a $2,000 grant.

“Through its unique form and strong characters, Johanne Pothier’s novel Un 10 décembre à Munich, published by Druide, paints a striking portrait of the 20th century’s defining moments, blending music, history and psychology. Her intricate and remarkable novel skillfully blends historical references and human relationships. Pothier’s background as a musician comes through her well-crafted, lyrical and effective writing that reads like a musical score. This novel has a more personal touch, which moved the jury and gave them food for thought beyond entertainment.” —The jury’s comments regarding Un 10 décembre à Munich
