Camille Deguise Receives the 3rd Antidote Scholarship in Remedial Education

November 27, 2025 Press releases

Druide informatique is pleased to announce that Camille Deguise has been awarded the third Antidote Scholarship for remedial education in reading and writing. Deguise is a master’s student in remedial education at the Faculty of Education of the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). The $25,000 scholarship is awarded as part of the research chair program for foundation learning in literacy, established through a donation made to the Fondation de l’UQAM by Druide informatique.

While Deguise has been providing remedial education in schools only for a short time, she has excelled in all the courses of her master’s program. She was also a research assistant on a project about foundation learning in literacy and, more specifically, vocabulary spelling. Her graduation project focuses on intervention for students who are struggling with reading or writing.

The Antidote Scholarship in Remedial Education is awarded annually to a student in UQAM’s Faculty of Education whose thesis or doctoral project relates to remedial education or to learning difficulties in reading and writing. It is granted as part of the research chair program for foundation learning in literacy, established through a $1 million donation from Druide on the 25th anniversary of the launch of its Antidote software.

Millions of people use Antidote to improve the quality of their writing in both English and French. Its corrector, dictionaries and guides also support those learning to write. Among other benefits, Antidote can counterbalance the varying degrees of spelling deficits associated with dyslexia, and Druide is working diligently on its development. Moreover, some of the Chair’s work could guide this development to provide additional support to these learners.

Druide informatique has been specializing in artificial intelligence and computational linguistics since 1993. The company produces and markets Antidote, the most comprehensive writing-assistance software available for English and French, as well as Typing Pal, the renowned typing-tutorial application. In addition to its software, Druide also publishes French-language literature and reference works through its subsidiary, Éditions Druide.
